Star Foundation recycling banks support local sport

Recycling banks for clothing, shoes, bags and belts can be found at the Lammas, Hucknall and Festival Leisure Centres and people can support the scheme by placing unwanted items in the banks.

The money raised will be used to help provide free swimming sessions and support Active Ashfield events and initiatives for young people.

Pete Tryner,  founder of the Star Foundation said "We set up the foundation to help raise funds for local clubs and schools, helping keep young people creative and active in these uncertain times. Working with Active Ashfield in helping more young people from the district is great and we hope that the local people help support the scheme by using the banks."

Carol Hallam. Sports Development Officer at Ashfield District Council said, ‘This initiative provides a great way of generating income for local sport, whilst at the same time contributing to the environment through recycling.’

Kirkby-in-Ashfield’s Paralympic hopeful Ollie Hynd recently joined the the Star Foundation as a new ambassador and is pictured promoting the scheme at the Festival Hall Leisure Centre.
